Jesse and Bailey are back to skating lessons today after the Christmas break. They are learning to stop and to skate backward. They are skating better each time they go. It is really nice to have a skating rink in town.

We want to take Jonah skating this winter too!! Do the kids play hockey as well as take skating lessons? You gotta get them out doing something to burn off all that energy. Plus, it's a tax write off :) Sounds good to me!!
Skating at our school starts in kindergarten because the rink butts up onto the back of the school grounds and the classes can walk. We can also use it free Mon Wed, and Fri for a couple hours. This year we put the kids in lessons in the Can Skate program after school Tuesdays so we can skate all week if we want. The rink is the only thing we have in town so it is well used. We don't have a playground other than the schools and the baseball diamonds and running track are torn up because of the building of the new school.I didn't know it was a tax write off.
The government is allowing up to $500 per child ( I think it's per child ) for sports activities that they enroll in. They are trying to encourage healthy kids. I better check if this is only a BC thing or not...I thought it was all of Canada. I'll check!
