My New Favorite Picture

This is my new favorite picture . Shawn and Micheal went down the hill together on saucers. At the bottom of the hill they crashed beside the barn and couldn't stop laughing. The smiles on their faces are absolute joy. We had so much this day. It's the little things in life that make all the rest worth while. Remember to take time out of your day today to play and laugh. Five minutes is all it takes but it adds ten years to your life. Have a fun filled day!

Is Spring Here Yet

With all the beautiful weather during the day I keep thinking about Spring. Where am I going to move the garden to . What will I plant. What buildings need
to be repaired.
What fences need to be mended.
I can't wait till it truely is spring but that is still another 3 months away until then I'll dream of warm earth on my bare feet and sun on my face.

Another Winter Day

The weather was resonable -4 when Shawn was home for the first time in ages. We decided we needed to go out and burn and while Shawn started the fire the little ones dragged out the saucers. They were having so much fun that Mike, Shawn and I decided to join them. First we started with saucers then we tried buckets and crazy carpets. Then we tried one at a time, two and more. For us its the best part of living on a hill.

We are a definite 4 season family. If we can have a picnic with no bugs then winter is a great picnic time. Shawn said the next day he really felt the crashing into the snow bank but it was just to much fun to miss.

Another Good Book

Unveiled by Francine Rivers is another great book. I borrowed it from Jen Thursday night and had it finished by Friday night. It is novella about Tamar the daughter in law of Judah. The story goes thru her life from being sold off to Judah's household to wed his son Er. It goes on to talk about how she dealt with his abuse and then death after only one year. She then is given to Judah's second son who also dies quickly. She is then sent away for years until she decides to take matters into her own hands. Throughout the whole story she decides the Caananite idols are not a real god as she was taught and that there must be something else. Without help from Judah she discovers his God the God of Jacob and Abraham and with his help survives until a time when God changes Judah's heart. There are 4 other books in the series Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary. These are all women in the lineage of Jesus. I can't wait to read the rest.

Here I Am.

I was having trouble thinking what to talk about but then on Thursday I went to our ladies Bible study and then it came to me. We are going thru the book Captivating by Stasi and John Eldredge. I started reading the books by reading Wild at Heart it's really meant for men. If you want to understand your husband and sons this is the book to read. It gave me a whole new perspective on men and how to raise them. Captivating is for women and it brings a perspective about how men show love. The book talks about many recent movies and the roles of the men and women in them. Braveheart is a popular movie in our house and after reading Captivating I really see how William Wallace shows is love to his wife. These two books are really good reads.

God's Special Birthday Girl

Here is to the Birthday Girl. Our number one most special grandmother and great grandmother AMMI. I don't know if you all know how she got her name. Seeing as I'm the oldest grandchild, when I was small I couldn't get the grrr in granny. She didn't really like granny anyway so it came out Ammi and has now stuck with 6 grandchildren and spouses, 9 great grandchildren and all those who love her as much as we do. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

The Blizzard that wasn't

There has been blizzard warnings in our county for 2 days now. The TV and radio stations have been saying how bad everything is out there. Other than the kids staying home and going nuts because they had to stay inside all day it didn't seem to bad. The buses don't run in this weather because they don't have very good heaters for the kids and some kids ride upto an hour and a half one way. We still have power and heat and it's only about -27 as I'm writing this. We have had much worse weather with alot less warning. Luckily I didn't need to go anywhere. Shawn's work was cancelled tomorrow because of windchill warnings. He is going to spend the night in town and drive home in the daylight. Thank goodness I worry so much when he needs to drive home from work when it's so dark. There isn't a street light within 40km. of us. The good news is that for once I was organized enough to have new winter tires on both vehicles before the first snow. Well lets hope this is the last bad winter storm.

Skating Lessons

Jesse and Bailey are back to skating lessons today after the Christmas break. They are learning to stop and to skate backward. They are skating better each time they go. It is really nice to have a skating rink in town.

Our Christmas Present from Mike

Mike built us this beautiful headboard out of an old door that he found on one of his construction sites. He used other cedar timbers from the roof of the old Rich Valley School to finish it. It is absolutely gorgeous. The boy has some incredible talent.

Christmas 2006

Well now that the kids are back to school. I have some time to look at some of my Christmas pictures. Shawn got some new work shirts. Bailey got a new Bible from her Daddy. Mike got a new snowboarding hat. Jesse got some new blankets in John Deere green, he's always cold. I'm beside my self because Shawn fixed my truck and installed a new stereo.

MIGRAINES

Some of you might have heard that for the last 2 months I have been having a constant migrain. Right before Christmas I went and saw the doctor and he ran every test including a CAT Scan. Well the results came back with seemingly no medical cause. So I decided it was up to God and I have now been headache free for two days. Praise the Lord.

If They Can Do it So Can I

Well, I was just reading Amanda's posting about how happy she was that Candice could have a Blog even with 2 beautiful boys at home and I thought that if she could I could with my 3 at school all day.
